Inner Demons

They try to hold us back

Keeping us in the dark

Never letting us see the light

They try to make us feel

Miserable

Sad

Angry

And alone

They tell us

'That we are not good enough'

'That we should be better'

'No one will like us for who we are'

'We have to be prettier'

'We have to be smarter'

'We have to be stronger'

'We have to be…'

'If only…'

They feed off our negative emotions

Giving them strength

And more power over us

They pull us down into the depths of despair

Our demons have the power to control us

That is if we give in
